Beginners Guide To Gimp

This guide will explain how to take an image, change its color, resize it, and add text to it....easily.

-CROP / RE-SIZE-

Step 1:

[] To resize the image, we need to use the Scale tool. you can access this by pressing Shift+T, or by selecting the Scale Tool Icon in the tool box.
(you can also click Image tabe; select Scale Image)

[] Click and drag the immage from the top-left corner to the bottom-right corner, and then back up again.
(notice how you can freely manipulate the dimensions of the image)

[] Now click on the Scale window.

[] Set the Width to 512.

[]Set the Height to 368.

[] Click the Scale button.

Step 2:

[] Zoom In to 200% original image size.

[] Set your scrolls so the character's face is in the center of the window.

[] To 'crop' the image, we need to use the Rectangle Select Tool. you can access this by pressing R, or by selecting the Rectangle Select Tool Icon in the tool box.

[] click and hold slightly above and left of the characters head
(notice the dimensions at the bottom of the window; should say Rectangle 0 X 0)

[] drag your cursor horizontally(left to right) until the dimensions at the bottom are 80 X 1.
(Keep holding)

[] Drag down until the selection 80 X 165.
(let go..)

[] right click on selection > Edit > Copy.

Step 3:

[] Exit out of the window

[] Do not save.
(seriously. unless you want the uncropped picture.)

[] A blank gimp image window should appear; click Edit tab > Paste

[] File > Save As > gimp_guide_avi.jpg
(choose export when saving; move quality from 85 to 100; then save)
