Beginners Guide To Gimp

This guide will explain how to take an image, change its color, resize it, and add text to it....easily.

-TEXT-

Step 1:

[] To add text to an image, we needd to use the Text Tool. you can access this by pressing T, or by selecting the Text Tool Icon from the toolbox.

[] Look at the toolbox.
(lower half; when Text Tool is selected)

[] Set your font as Impact Condensed.

[] Set your size to 21.

[] Chceck Hinting box.

[] Check Force auto-hinter box.

[] Chek Antialiasing box.

[] Change to whatever color you want.
(i end up choosing white)

Step 2:

[] Click and drag across the image to create text box.
(make it big enough to type in)

[] Type CAAPS in the Text window.
(notice how you can arrange the letters left to right, and right to left)

[] To move objects or layers, we need to use the Move Tool. you can access this by pressing M, or by selecting the Move Tool Icon from the tool box.
(notice that adding text will spawn a new layer so you can edit the text without effecting the other layer)

[] Click and drag the text wherever you want it on the image.

Step 3:

[] Take a good look at the text and make sure it is exactly how you want it.

[] Click the Layer tab.

[] Select Merge Down.
(this merges the layers together)

[] Just Save the image as gimp_guide_avi.jpg and you should have a finished product that looks something like this:
(choose export when saving; move quality from 85 to 100; then save)
